What we have here is my only ficus (Retusa). I did a repot and I'm not sure if the loopy aerial root should stay or go. My feeling is it should go. What say you all?

If you mean the right one in the black pic...yup, cut it.

Yeah, that's the one. I thought about strapping it down but I don't think it really adds anything to the tree. Thanks!

I was thinking that's a great pic to black it out of....but I can't use my editor.

I think the left branch makes it funny.

You will also get more movement with it gone.

And maybe the long one for S&G?

I like the position of the top root, but seems a bit thick.
Agree the right one must go.

Why not sure wire the root down? I find you can move the roots down-even break the root at the connection point by 50% and the root will still survive. Just seal it if it breaks. I vote keep it just make it less intrusive.

In my opinion, the right root should go. Maybe try bending it to the trunk as much as you can, and if it snaps, prune it off.

If you leave the one on the left, you're going to get a bulge where it connects to the trunk. I'm not saying you have to remove it for that reason, just something to think about.

Ficus roots are very pliable so it won't snap. I am going to bind it to the trunk and see if sets. Thanks!

Last virt is what I was thinking.

Keep the apex from over the left branch.

I like it.

At the next repot I would bury it further and strap it down. If you do that and dont like it just cut it off.
