Looking for Pear

I've been obsessed with crabapples as of lately... So if you find more and are willing to trade or sell, let me know!

If you're interested Joe, Bill has a "noga" crabapple variety that is wonderful with really tiny red fruit. I almost picked one up at the Winter Silhouette show but decided to hold for now since crabs are not exactly at the top of my priority list at the moment.

Mach5, im honored! Tell me where to chop it! ill have to get you some better photos, and the field is currently covered in a foot of snow, its a big tree, luckily it sits rather close to my "bonsai lab" my experience with crab apples is that they take well to collecting, when done in spring, throw roots and shoots everywhere, pretty much like an elm, my only minor concern is that I've not collected a yellow one yet, and they are different, though im not that concerned.

JoeR, I have access to many many wild crab apples, most of them make red apples, but there are quite a few other yellows. actually there is a very nice large red one I have my eye on as well.. I pass on quite a few that I think or worthy of a dig Been working on my priority list assembling the order of the trees I plan collect this coming spring.. and this year I have quite a bit of repotting to do. found a really neat super old small wild apple that I want to get, im obsessed with hornbeam currently, so I've got a few of those up top of my list.. couple beech, another real old large hawthorne, but yes im honored to have my material draw interest from guys of your caliber! obviously id want to make sure the tree is alive and well before we strike a deal or trade, totally open to ship, I have a custom box building/shipping department at my shop and can get LTL quotes or UPS ground quotes very fast and easily. not looking to get rich here.. I enjoy it and would feel good that someone likes the material. Once the snow thaws ill take photos and you guys can pick and choose any you like and tell me where you want the chops and any other requests and ill do the grunt work! already been stocking up on pumice and lava in preparation for the up coming season, really need to up my container game this year too.

Man, you should start a thread this winter. I too will buy a crab apple and pear from you.

ok! pressure is on now! I dont like to post anything until it has buds, but im getting more and more confident as I gain experience. as we all know, the hard part is locating quality material.. a lot of the pears are almost too big but I haven't focused my search on pears too hard in the past. lots of crabs though.

Not sure what "Noga" means, nothing came up when I searched for it- but will it be in his Bare-Root Seedling magazine he does every winter? Or are they specimen trees? Thanks for the heads up by the way.

Joe Noga discovered it and propagated it from a witches broom or through other means. I am not altogether certain. Bill had a few at his table and they caught my eye. I would contact Bill directly. Unsure as to whether he'll include it in his annual bareroot seedlings catalogue.

Waltron started all this with them teaser. Now we gotta see more! From all parties!

Yes this is a good thing for everyone, glad to see such interest in D trees. Especially flowering and fruiting which are near and dear to me. I need a yellow fruiting crabapple and a pear...

Well there ya go! Looks like we've put some folks here in business!
