Let's see those dwarf Alberta spruce jams

anyone know why so many of these fork at that exact spot near the base? are they grafted?

I shaped another smaller one shortly after. I wanted to create something beyond the usual straight trunk. And to see how far I was able to bent it.
“Severly” bending a spruces can induce backbudding at places where the tissue is slightly torn I understood. It seems like at least one bud followed that principle.

I am still figuring out if I like it or find it fugly. Or what it could be in the future.
Thoughts or criticts are welcome.

anyone know why so many of these fork at that exact spot near the base? are they grafted?
Has to do with the branches selected for rooting, a multi-trunk tree will make a fuller wider bush quicker so that is preferred although they don't put in a lot of effort either way on DAS. Other varieties of dwarf white spruce are often chopped to encourage many trunks.
