I tried Hagedorns muck formula, I didnt like it. It smelled terrible after a few days and dries out really fast. Now I just use 50/50 sifted potting soil and wet long fiber sphagnum. If I have any akadama dust I throw that in too.

Good to know your experience I’ll see if that is what I observe.. I made two batches of corn starch one that still had some viscosity left to it , and another that was like puddy.
Muck wall is holding up well .. not bad for a first try ! We’ll see how it hold up moving into summer months. Gotta still use that old lace rock if not this year then definitely next
The far right tree lost its upper branches but it’s still alive.. the muck wall is eroding now .. but I like it far bettter than pre made stuff maybe I’ll play around next spring w a recipe.. the other larches are gourmet great .. it will be wired next spring before bud break
