Probably a good idea. What you do this year will not be what you do next year. I would still start with getting the big one with the best nabari. You can always rechop if if you don't like the direction it's heading. The idea is that big material is expensive to acquire.

Actually not a bad idea. I should buy them all, collect them, and then sell them to bonsai enthusiasts! LOL maybe ebay...i've seen worse! My only thing would be collecting them all and keeping them alive long enough to sell them.

I'm still trying to figure out the whole nebari thing. I know good when I see it, but potential is what I'm still not sure about. I haven't done any serious root work or corrected any nebari yet, so I'm not exactly sure what to look for except roots on every side of the tree, which I'm sure there will be. But most trees in the ground at that age are up to the crown in the dirt so you can't see the roots. If u look at the pics you will see u cant really see the roots.
