Korean Black Pine in training.

Is the cold hardiness of KBP better than that of JBP since Korea as a whole experiences cooler winters than Japan? Also would the same be said for KRP Vs JRP? Could the Korean varieties of these trees be hardy in zone 4 with protection? I know JRP is already rated zone 4-5 anyways!

Get some wire on that, stat
Hahaha thanks for reminding me, but I only wire black pine every other years !

Sorry. I can not answer these questions because I am living in hot and dry area! But I know Mr. Dan Robinson who is living in Seattle has a couple of really beautiful old KBP bonsai

To get this kind of trunk line, I mainly did cut and grow with occasional wire and bend . There are a lot of cutting marks along the trunk ! It should be nice in a few years .

Up to this time, I feel very good about my decision of training bonsai from seedlings. It gives me a ton of experience in raising and training the trees. It is a big reward for me. Time is flying. 15 years is passing by liked eye blinking. I am encouraging you to get hands on seedling training.
