That's what I was thinking, but this guy had this one last year and he's farther south than I am. I'm willing to bet that if the JBP is still around come spring the price will lower. Probably not to $200.00 though. That pine came from the west coast so it's got some built in travel expenses I'm thinking. It's tough to find good material around here, I guess it's tough to find good material everywhere really. I've got a lot of Tridents and Japanese Maples planted over plates that should be getting somewhere in 10 years, but it's hard to grow conifers in that time frame if you get what I'm saying. My goal is to save my money, buy one good conifer a year, and grow my own D trees.
Don't count on it.... collecting can be an expensive endeavour (but a total blast!).... the cost is mostly in time and fuel.... amongst other things like lodging and food... flying isn't really ideal you still need to get to the trees so best to drive. Then you have to get them home... if you are planning on mailing them its best to wait a little while.....
Yeah, I was just fun'in. We've got alot of elm varieties here, and of course the Virginia Pines. V. Pines are tough to get up with enough roots as the old nice ones have feeder roots at the very end of 20 ft taproots (that's how they get old). Occasionally one can get lucky though. Hornbeams are around, but it's hard to find a good one.
