Japanese red maple help please.

This is a Japanese maple I picked up about a month ago now at a local gardening store, I lost the tag that it came with so I don't know what kind of red maple it is. So if anyone could help with that it'd be great. Also from the images I attached dose it look like it's doing well? Do I need to do any cutting? I'd like it to just grow big and tall, not really make it into bonsai. Lol I realised that kinda late, Anyway yes any help would be great. It's potted in a 10 gallon pot and just regular soil I bought from the same store. thanks guys and gals!

Another 2 images. Ideas are welcome .... I know planting it in the groud would be fast and best but I don't have the space now. But I need it it grow as larg as possible until then

If you want to grow it larger plant it in a spot where it gets the light it needs. Just dig a hole a little deeper than than soil level in the bucket and a little larger around than the bucket. You can amend the soil with a little compost if you like,wet the hole. Take the tree ,soil and all (it should lift right out) and place it in the hole. Back fill with the soil you dug out to make the hole or use compost. I don't amend the hole but some people do. Once it's in tamp the soil firmly and water. And I mean water until the soil around the roots is saturated. Water every 3 days this year. I also shove miracle gro tree spikes in the ground around it.

Maybe Sumo wrestlers know how to lose weight... Can't see why a sumo wrestler would want to lose weight, but hey maybe they can give tips on how to grow trees that originate in japan... Knowledge is knowledge, ill ask.

May be late but like someone else said, just find the spot where you want it for life dig a hole amend a bit and plant it mulch it water it and leave it alone. You may need to water it every few days this season until it's established.

If I was going to guess, he's on the trail of a thicker trunk. Blood goods will be an equal battle to reduce internode length and thicken trunk. Planing it to a large collender in soil less peat-y and always always always save a sacrifice (or three) branch for latter chops.

Trees are almost always more interesting when they have a trunk that is not straight as an arrow, especially Japanese maples. You can try to wrap the stem around a rod of some kind (e.g. a bamboo pole) when you plant it. Certainly the upper parts are flexible enough to do this. This may save many years in the process of making an interesting bonsai of it.
