As some of you are aware, in Texas it has been 105+ degrees consecutively for almost a month now. My maple cutting got roasted under a 30% shade net. Switched to a 50% about a week ago and seeing four new leaves, amazing how quickly it’s turning around.

Anyone else have this happen to them after switching to a stronger shade net?

I've been using this 50% shade cloth here in Brazil, for the maples, with great success.
I still must water and mist them, in the summer, at least twice a day, but they are healthy!

They look great! Do you keep the shade net on year round? I’m trying to list at least three times a day.

Yup, all year round.
Dry warm winds are fatal for their leaves, so mine are enclosed in a shade tent.
And yes, I try to mist them as much as possible in the summer.

I'm in north Texas and I use a 70% shade cloth and still get toasted leaves, but will readily admit I may have over-watered in the extreme heat we've had.

Most of my Japanese maples (aged between 0 and 3 years) got crispy leaves. All but one of the 0 year old ones died. The rest have regrown their leaves, thankfully.

I keep mine under a huge tree where they get some morning sun and then dappled shade the rest of the day. They do much better under there.
