Itoigawa juniper Stock

This is the kind of progression that gets a noob's mouth to watering! WOW! I really need to figure out Juniperus. I have 3 that are still alive, one of them in the ground for three years now for the trunk. Planning to get it into some type of pot this winter.
I know who to ask for advice now, after seeing this thread!
Keep in mind what Brian started with.
He got a tree that already had been grown for to 10 to 20 years and already had a trunk.

It grew and got bigger while he's had it but it started it was well along when he got it.

He took that and further developed the branches and foliage.

You won't get a similar finished tree in the same time frame from a $20 nursery juniper

This is why I come here, just pokin around and end up on a 12 year long documented bonsai project lol. Beautiful work Brian, congrats.

Nice work, Brian. It's great to see the side-by-side from 12 years ago to today. It's come a very long way from those humble beginnings. It's impressive to see such an increase in trunk girth even though it's been in a relatively small pot over this time.

This is my personal taste, but I like the airy and open quality that you had previously. I realize that you just did a cut back and to achieve this, it would most likely require a full wiring.

That’s a good phase.

Very nice and elegant tree 👍
Every people taste is different, but i think an oval pot could be nice because your tree is quite "feminine" ->
Totally agree, and have been looking for the right fit for years. Just last week, I bought this one.
