Is my tree dead?

I wasn't aware that I am a BonsaiNut legend.
That honor really belongs to Smoke or Vance.

Okay. Now let us cut through the bs. The previously named two, yourself, Sawgrass, and Al are about the only
figures on here that will make a statement, have the experience and trees to back it up, and are NOT
trying to polish your own apples or dislocate your shoulders patting yourselves on the back. You are also
straightforwardly open in your answers and allow for input from others on some other location and its
contrast with your area. [Might as well pi$$'em all off.] The other thing I admire about the enumerated
persons is that they are also experienced enough to have tried most of the stuff any of us will suggest and
can lay out the pros and cons of it before you waste some time. Not, like some on this board that are, "recipe"
growers who feel and adamantly insist:
"this is the recipe I was taught and you
should do exactly what I say cause my
"recipe" is the miracle you've been looking for."
Anyone who has ever been in a holiday kitchen knows better than that on a human safety level.
Face it dude; plenty of us do a search then look for answers from one of you guys.
Thanks for all that all of you have done and continue to do to advance this disease upon the globe.

Dude, the tree is dead. It has been dead a long time-may have been dead when you bought it (happens a lot when bonsai are sold by nurseries that get them from bonsai "mass producers" who use weak stock and bad soil)

Olive green is what junipers turn after they pass on.

Now to the OP:
Yup; yes, oui, si, . . .
IT IS DEAD.
Quick rule of thumb that usually holds true:
If you think it is dead, it probably is.

The legends have spoken, no more to add...

Except: welcome to the Nuts! :)

Ah and also: I don't know where you live but don't feel too bad regarding your dead juniper and here (in Niles, IL) you could find 2 little procumbens for less than $10 at Home depot (not speaking of mass produced 'bonsaiioids' here, just the regular landscaping trees, very healthy with roots and without glued gravels) may be you could start with this kind of bargain to train you at training them ;)

I fully second that.

Just don't listen to the little Chinese lady next to you saying the ones from Florida are ok for indoors!

More so after a night out of the cellar!

I got into the tequila last night. Margaritaville!

I can hold my beer.

Not so with wine or other spirits.

Upon reviewing these pots, you'd think I hit the bottle frequently. Alas... Not so. Even less, recently. Since I lost one kidney last year, I'm drinking more water and less alcohol. Maybe that's why it hits harder when I do imbibe.

Like the Monty Python dead parrot sketch, if you smash a bonsai hard on a counter you can tell if it's turned up it's toes. This is a FACT. Oh I'm 47 today and I too am a bit battered :)

Happy birthday!
Run over and tell Graham he owes you a birthday tree!

Here is the Spartan that you can acquire for cheaper than you got the glue in!image.jpgThis has been my thought on design.

Again sorry about your tree.

Jesus Adair!

I hardly have ground to stand on......

But please take care of yourself!

Souls get lost in Margaritaville!

Don't worry, I monitor my blood pressure, my water intake, and they seem to want to take blood for testing every couple months.

But thank you for your concern. I was extremely lucky they found the kidney cancer. I had no symptoms. My regular doctor takes a chest X-ray every year. He told me he thought he saw something in a lung. So he sent me for a CT scan. Nothing in the lung, but the radiologist noticed something in a kidney. Thing is, a chest CT scan only covers half of the kidneys, so I had to have another. Yep, sure enough, cancer, right in the middle of the kidney. They had to take the whole kidney out. But the cancer is gone. It was a year ago.

Evidently, the only way they find this "in time" is by luck. If you start to have symptoms, it's too late. I was lucky.

So...

I do try to eat better, and do the things i need to do to keep my remaining kidney healthy.

And, I guess it was a kick in the gut reminding me about our mortality. So, time is ticking away. If I'm ever going to have great bonsai, I've got to make it happen now.

. So, time is ticking away.

Faster every day.
And you are so right Adair. Sometimes it takes a near death or in my case a death experience to make you realize you aren't going to live forever.
I'm glad to hear you are cancer free. I would miss you on here for sure. No more jabs at wiring. No more discussions on decandling. No more S.OB.s.
Plus you share everything you learn from Boon on here. Priceless information. Well not priceless, you paid handsomely for it. Ha! Couldn't resist.
