I dont know why i dont know what this is

First of all, I agree with Tom about the lava rock. I use mostly lava with a little bit of pine bark for all my ficus. It really keeps the humidity level up in the pot. If you will be leaving this in the greenhouse all year round, then your options are greatly increased than if you were planning on bringing it out in the summer. Ficus love humidity; and if they have a warm, humid environment, then you can do just about anything to them. As for the apex... Are you asking should you graft on a branch for the apex? Or are you asking about bending the trunk upright to make it centered? Well, since this is a ficus; and since this is in the greenhouse; I would just make a wedge-shaped notch in the trunk and bend it over. They seem to recover very well from this, and you can put bends into really thick trunks this way. If you want to read about trunk notching just google "trunk notching bonsai."

Well I have some not so great news regarding this tree.
Over the past weekend, the greenhouse where the plant was kept, was either left unlocked or someone with a key entered and has taken it. Went to check on the progress of growth and found that it was nowhere even in the green house... Talked to my teacher (who is in charge of the greenhouse) and was shocked to had seen in gone Monday morning... There is really no way to narrow down who had could have taken it... It is a sad day :( I guess this is where this thread ends... keep your eyes out i suppose...

Roelex, are you a student in highschool ( when you say you found it in the school greenhouse, and your teacher who is in charge of the greenhouse). If so, its probably someone in your school that took the plant. I would post pics of the tree on the boards in your school. Someone might know who has it. I wouldn't give up looking.

No, i am in college. I go to Illinois State University... so there are over 20,000 possible suspects...

THAT SUCKS!!! I cant believe someone would do that... I am sorry to hear about your loss. :(

Roelex.. sorry to hear this very sad news.. the up side is that now you know how to work a Benj Ficus.. !
You did good work and will be easier to duplicate the results on another specimen..

It is what it Is.. :(
