I will try the gravel for my hydro only trees. I am going to start testing some trees in different mixes to find what works for ficus. For Tomatoes I use normal miracle grow potting soil and they grow great.
I just have a hard time with the coarse mixes I know they are healthier for the trees but I just cant get the watering down on them. A tree that I have kept alive just fine for a year in its nursery pot declines very
fast when I put it in a course mix.
