How to collect rain water and new gutters

*How do you collect rain water?

*Do you filter it in any way before using on your trees?

*I need to add gutters to my house, any suggestions for modifications to collect rain water?
-Is this something most professionals can do for me?

I saw a brochure for a system at home depot. There is definitely professional systems out there

I do collect rainwater. I don't use a filter, but use a device that connects to the downspouts that doesn't allow large particles in. You can find a lot of these types of things at Gardening suppliers, just google downspout diverters.
Do make sure there are no legal obstacles in your locale, as hard as it is to believe, collecting rainwater can be illegal in some places.
There are all manner of storage systems to be had. Crust has a wonderful system. I myself use barrels. There is a place that repurposes olive barrels, they are large and fairly inexpensive.

You'll need estroughs on your house which can be done very economically. Easiest if you hire some on for that I'd assume.

Generally a good idea but depends on your water coming out of your taps.

Divert your gutter drain and set up rain barrels which are pretty cheap. Check craigslist for that. Check out an exemple here
