How do you guys handle these squirrels?…

Pellet rifle. This year alone they have chewed the powder coating of my pool furniture, chewed my trim work on my pool arbor and chewed the aluminum wire that holds my chain link fence to upper post in half about 75 ft. area. We have woods on our property and the neighbors behind us have pecan trees. It is a constant battle every year. My wife won't cook them she says their rodents:)View attachment 589931
Wow! now I have air rifle envy!

Hatsan 95 .22 + a terrier has been pretty effective over here

Leave it to my state…

Wow. The real deal. I'm not paying that much to make my yard smell. The fish emulsion fert already does that.

I tried something similar to get rid of squirrels. My neighbor's dogs, who never misbehaved, suddenly tunneled under my fence and tore up the yard, broke pots, knocked over benches, and generally went insane looking for whatever that was. One problem was traded for another.

Looks like a fair price. You ever train wolves to use a urinal? It can't be easy. Especially when they keep trying to flush.

Can always compost them and feed them to your trees 😆

Squirrel prevention; Bulk Container of Badia cayenne pepper
Microwave popcorn

Sprinkle cayenne on affected tree pots
Microwave popcorn
Sit back and enjoy the show, its kept the damage limited in my trees. They can't stop rubbing it into their faces, hilarious 🤣

I have two working line Belgian Malinois who make squirrel hunting a full time job, plus I cover pots with plastic mesh, but the f#÷$%&g squirrels still dig away, taunt the dogs, and come to look in the sliding glass doors. What works against human criminals and terrorists (my young dog's father was a police dog) has no effect against rodents.

At one time, we had a Dob (best dog ever) and a Jack Russell (worst dog ever). The Dob was outstanding at flushing animals - in addition to catching them. With the JR, he would flush chipmunks and squirrels to the JR who would instantly take care of them ;).

Knock on wood, I've only seen the squirrels burying acorns in the pots, but I'm going to try the suggestion of fake snakes to see if that will work. I fully expect I will need to move them fairly regularly, but a lot less work than adding wire mesh to the pots, and/or making 'cages' for the trees.

Depending on where you keep your trees and how many you have, you could possibly build a ‘crop cage’ for them. I am going to build one soon to keep squirrels out of my carnivorous plant pots. I am using 2x2 lumber to assemble a simple frame, then stapling deer netting on the top and sides. Mine will go on top of a 2ft by 4ft planter box, but you could build it to any size desired.

I agree that it wouldn’t be the prettiest thing to look at, but it can always be easily lifted and removed when needed. The squirrels in my area can really wreak havoc. Good luck!
