How bad are box elders for bonsai?

There was a member on here for some time from Albuquerque, whose name I cannot remember, and he posted a picture of an acer negundo that belonged to his teacher? that was very well developed. I've personally tried using them for bonsai when I lived where they were native. Given any extra water and more than a tablespoon of soil, they seem to have explosive growth.

Well, ever the experimenter, I just might dig one this spring. I've really found some good trunks in the area. Hey, I've spent more time and money and gotten less in my life.
