Honored position at show

Today, at or club’s annual fall show, I had the honor of our president picking my Eastern Red Cedar to take center stage on the main table of the show. We don’t judge trees in our club shows, so this was a special treat.

Thank you. That is what I try for in most of my trees. Meticulously pruned and intensely styled trees are just not my taste. I do appreciate the skill and the vision that goes into them, though.

After all of these years referring to it as easter red cedar, I found out this one is probably southern red cedar (Juniperus silicicola). I only just found that out a few days ago. I had never heard of this species before. It's range overlaps with the ERC through much of the south but it's mostly found in the deep south and parts of California.
