Has technology gone too far?

[Paradox]

My good friends have a roomba and one day while they were both at work, my friends dog took a dump in the house and the roomba began cleaning the floor…. Smeared it all over the house.
THIS! is technology going tooooo far.

LOL malfunction....its supposed to avoid messes like that

We started some automation where I work. We even built a robot arm to do a specific job.

After a couple years, the robot has not replaced anyone. It needs some form of work, whether it's fixing code or some physical thing that goes wrong, almost daily.

While AI is growing super fast, we'll still need humans doing the majority of the work for a long time to come. And when it does, the working class will be maintaining, fixing, and building automation machines.

Im all for AI that makes very hard physical labor and/or dangerous jobs easier or not have a human have to do those.
I agree there will be a shift in some jobs. Time will tell if a significant number of humans get replaced by AI. I agree its probably not in my lifetime

I use AI a lot at work, and I'm sure to always be polite and nice to it. One day, I hope it remembers that.

As a test engineer that basically tortures software until it breaks I'll be the first to go
