Gnar precumbens

I’ve been looking at this one for a while, thinking I should do some maintenance work on it, but keep put it off. 🤣

Today I did about an hour of work on it. Mostly pruning back, but also some wiring.
The lowest branch/pad was getting shaded out and was looking weak. I’ve oriented it to get more sun in the garden. Still a little weak, but I hope thinning the above branches will help. IMG_2306.jpegIMG_2307.jpegIMG_2305.jpeg
After thinning, and wire IMG_2310.jpegIMG_2309.jpeg

Nice trunk on this. How are you fertilizing? The foliage looks a little malnourished. I think I would try to fertilize heavily before winter.

Next year you should be able to get a good styling in on it once health is maximized.

Im learning this year how key maximum health is before major work. Lost a good prospect due to not letting tree get to peak energy and health.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve been cutting miracle grow to 50% and I fertilize once a week.

I am learning to fertilize more. It’s something I haven’t been doing right for years.

Tree is looking great dude. I don’t understand why someone would post wordless “here’s how I would do it better” photoshops on other people’s progression threads. If this were art critique with my students I would toss them out of class for that. But FWIW @Eckhoffw your design is just right👌

Par for the course unfortunately.

Tree looks very healthy but @Orion_metalhead may be right on fertilizer, and the styling coming right along. That last pic looks like the best front id say, but maybe just needs slight rotation counter clockwise? The cascading branches seem to be flowing away from the viewer. As the trunk and branches thicken maybe consider a Jin or two to add the element of age. Great handling so far though!

I do this for every tree I see and think about. The freedom of media sites such as these give us the ability to share ideas. Don’t like it? What difference does it make?

@Orion_metalhead , @Hartinez , @Dogestoevsky-

Thanks for the thoughtful comments. 🥰
I post my trees progressions, hoping I will get feedback and critique along the way.

I don’t take offense to anyone who wants to take their time and mock up a different solution.
If they are inspired enough to put effort into creating virtual images, then I’ll take that as a compliment.

I do think it is a little funny though to get them when it’s obvious the tree has been progressing for a while, and wasn’t really a ‘help me style my tree’ post. Whatever,

It’s all good. Thank you guys for your help👍

Very welcome! Thank you Eckhoffw

I think what people are asking for is some elaboration on why you think the style you are proposing is a good option. Thats all.

I’m probably asking for more than you were willing to give, but I would love to see a little bit more humility in your postings. Not just this one, but generally. Then again. The Internet.. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Maybe try a personal sketchbook for this kind of thinking? Or at least ask before you download someone’s photo and throw it into an image editor. And if they’re receptive, then explain your criticism. I’m sure you’re aware how much time we put into our trees, and a shotgun-critique is generally unpleasant.

I suppose it doesn’t make a difference to me. Sure makes you look like a jerk though 🤷‍♀️

Schwing the apex clockwise and over and yes yes a tilt to the right and forward yes yes to allow the sschwing clockwise back over top of the top spine of the trunk.
