So here it is today. I wanted to wire it out, but I’m worried about how dry and brittle the needles feel. There is bright green new growth, but some areas continue to dry up.
It gets about 4 hours of morning shade then 4 hours of afternoon full sun. I’m wondering if morning sun would be better. Any thoughts?

If you have a position with full sun I would put it there... all my junipers are sitting in full sun every day from 7am to 4pm... and these days we have 36-37 Celsius here...

Thanks for this reminder! I keep thinking that my junipers will burn in the direct sun. This one’s foliage feels brittle and extra pokey. Maybe more sun will actually help. IDK, it’s been mid 80s - 90s (sorry I’m slow at converting) lately and getting around 5 hrs. Direct sun.

If you don't mind doing the bonsai shuffle, I'd give it full morning sun, shade it during the hottest parts of the day and then back to the sun in the late afternoon. My junipers been loving full sun but I've lucked out and found a spot where they get 2 hours of shade during the hottest part of the day(thanks to larger overhead trees)

Yeah, I think you’ve nailed it. An ideal spot. Afternoon direct sun is brutal right now. I’m getting lots of burn on plants lit up between like 1-5 pm.

You're not too far from where I am(SE WI) so I'm sure we have very similar days. There's definitely some hot hours with direct sun. I've heard of some who would throw a white towel/t-shirt during the hot hours as well. I'm contemplating just building a shade-cloth type of construct with how many larger trees I have now.

Repot day came at the Minnesota bonsai club. So I decided to repot this one.
Wish I had a suitable cascade pot for it.
I’m glad I didn’t wait though. Soil was pretty awful. Pond basket for now.

This one is starting to shape up to my liking. Now I just have to find the right cascade pot for it. If anyone knows a nice Sorce for a pot I’d love some help!
Do you mean a source for a cascade pot or a @sorce cascade pot?

I have an @sorce cascade pot but it's not nearly big enough for your tree. It's also porcelain and one of my favorites, so not sure I could let it go. Hope you find one.Haha! Oops. A source is what’s I meant. But either way.

Nice. I’m not sure what the best size would be for it at this point. But I’m thinking around a 8 x 8 x 8 with some taper might do nicely.
I’ll definitely nab one from you if you end up with something close in size.

I’m thinking like 7 1/2” x 7 1/2” x 9” tall.
I like the idea of a deep teal glaze Matte finish.
@sorce , i’d be willing to throw down the needed funds if you could come up with something like this.
