Oh and I'll mention I got the beautiful Tokoname pot from a raffel at GSBF... Those Californians have AWESOME raffles! lol Accent pot is by Erin Pottery....

Hmmmm isn't this the second tree you have sent east young lady? I think I am getting jelous, not sure of what but .........

I really like the use of that bright white contrasting pot. Don't recall seeing many white pots being used. Lovely tree of course! Really nice.

It is an unnusual pot choice. Looks good to me, though. Sets off the tree very well. Congratulations on another terrific candidate!

I love this tree.

Only thing that bothers me (just a tiny bit) is the cross branch...have you considered removing the inner branch?

lol... yes brother, it is... I am honored to have been accepted. I have great faith that it will be a pleasing addition to the show. Not a show stopper.... those ones are still being developed. I intend to show VERY well in 2014.

So hurry up and submit... because I'm not missing 2014, and I'd love to see you there. :)

Warmly,

Victrinia

PS... you're book will be in the mail tomorrow if my addled brain will remember to do it. lol I meant to do it yesterday but sleep deprivation for the last two days is kicking my backside. lol

Daniel has a great fondness of white pots, which has doubtlessly infected me. This particular one is a very nice pairing with this tree, because the finish is so muted. It adds to the light feeling evoked in the tree... which is then complimented by the height and style of the stand. I ordered it particularly tall to get the tree to the right view height and accent that feeling. Of course this may be very wrong from a rule standpoint, but I'm not that wrapped up in the rules of it all, I just want to do something pleasing... :)

Thanks for your kind remark...

Thank you Mark!! :) I actually made a point of telling Bill that I only actually own two white pots... since that's been the color of both my submissions. lol

Daniel threatened to cut it off the other day... I threatened to cut off his finger. lol It may in fact be in it's future to lose that branch... but not for a few years... I would need the crown to greatly extend to the left before that could happen. As it is, I still enjoy it, even with the flaw... but I don't disagree that it's a fault. Getting rid of it will solve several issues and improve the visual movement, but as I said... not yet. ;)

Kindest regards,

Victrinia

I will make it a point to be there in 14, I should be able to let you know how this one shows too.

By the way, if it had been here sooner, I would likely have not done much but scan thru, been kind of busy on this end too. Thank You.

I think it is magnificent. Also, it pulls off the white, rectangular pot very effectively.. Nice vision with this composition.

p.s... hmmm ..for someone who talks about the insignificance of the triangle... There is a clear and present triangle in the last bunch of trees you have posted recently..;) Glad to see you and the triangle are becoming one:p

I have this sudden urge to kick you in the butt... lol

I never said they were insignificant... I did argue that they can be a crutch, and that one often doesn't have the desire to impose a youthful look on yamadori. It generally looks contrived... even if it satisfies something in us, it's still fakery.

The last few images you are thinking of are not trying to be ancient and awesome... which is always my highest goal. They are specifically youthful or middle-aged looking trees. :p so you can take your triangle and............................................... lol

Thanks for your kind remarks though.

Yours in amusement,

Victrinia

lol.... You just made me smile.. You are a great bonsai artist and person. I told you about 5-6 years ago, that you were on your way to becoming one of the future great women bonsai artists. I guess my prediction is coming true.:D

Rob

Robbie I don't even know what to say to that... I was humbled by your crazy talk when you said it the first time. :p

All this time later and it still feels humbling and like crazy talk... but whatever lies ahead, all I know is that I love this art, and love encouraging others in it with every resource I have. The best thing is when one is surrounded by like minded, committed artists... I am very blessed in that way... you among them.

Humbly,

V

Congrats on a great composition, it is very pleasing! The white pot just plain works, and the stand is beautiful. Bravo.

I hope to finish up my entry this weekend. It will include elements from Hawaii to North Carolina!

It's so gratifying to have the white pot accepted for doing well what I had always hoped. People sometimes get hung up by what they expect to see... I'm glad this works in such a way that it is allowing people to set aside their expectations and just enjoy it. :D

I look forward to seeing a sneak peek of your own work Brian... that would be wonderful. Partly because it would be great to see what loveliness is being created in our community, and also to be proud that several among us are participating. There's something about preparing trees for show that just makes them that much better than even the usual photos we may take of them.

V

Vic your work is fantastic as usual and is made all the more beautiful by your kind and humble spirit. Thanks for sharing!

Clyde... Many thanks! May I always be worthy of your good opinion... and if I fail, may you not be there to see it. lol

Sincerely,

Victrinia

A point of clarification for my friend Smoke...

Al...

I just want to make sure you know, my dear friend, that when I asked that you be kind it was not in exchange for your honesty. I think there are a lot of ways one can express a different opinion on composition without being unkind. I would very much like to learn from you on whatever merits and faults this composition may have. I can take it... just be nice about it. lol

I know I made some gross blunders last time... I am hoping I did a little better this time. And if not, I'll learn from you again... as I tried to keep your teaching in mind from last time.

Just one request if I might... don't call my work Gaga-esque if you can avoid it. lol

Your friend as ever,

Victrinia
