Flowers 2022

Lathyrus tingitanus

At first, I thought it was sweet pea, Lathyrus odoratus : I had sown a batch in my garden, with red, or pink flowers in different shades, but only the pink ones come back every year. Both from the roots or from the "beans", it wants to stay. It's become invasive. But I don't really mind... :)

Yes very similar, that one is called Tangier Pea or Flowering Pea, very common weed they flower through all spring and early summer

In a couple more months here we'll have whole thickets of wild sweet peas getting ready to flower white, pink and purple. They grow so fast and so thick they'll choke out the elm saplings. Neighbors look at me funny when I snack on them as I walk by.
