Yes flowers are edible on all true magnolias the darker the colour the stronger the flavor

Oh my goodness! They are delicious! Tastes like the pickled ginger you get with sushi!

Any tips or tricks to getting them to bloom? This is the second winter with mine and although it's very healthy, no blooms.

First winter for me, but what I've had luck with so far is cutting them back fairly hard and they would flower from the new growth, I've done this a few times already and they flowered each time.
I also water and fertilize them fairly heavily, they like water.

Oh yes, they are thirsty. Mine has been growing like crazy, so maybe a pruning is in order. Thanks!

So canariensis is different?.....Another misleading information from a nursery (and they are too much to belive anything from them again )

Yes the Brezo is now a different species but is a new thing so its normal they still have it with the old name

This is a little Matsunami azalea. Sadly the flower seems to be the dominant type, so none of the other potential colors will likely show down the line…. but one can always hope!
