Flowers 2020

I rely on my phone as my camera, as a result, my images are deteriorating, as the lens for my phone camera has been getting more and more heavily scratched. It will be time for a new phone by the end of the year.

This one is a whip, also from David Kreutz, one year older than the no name whip.
This one is 'Meguriai' or perhaps it should be written 'Meguri-ai'.

@Harunobu - Thanks for the clue as to ancestry and flower type. I will keep my eyes open and I do have a book or two I can page through when I get time. I will look at 'Asuka' and progeny from 'Asuka', perhaps I'll see match, that David Kreutz will confirm possibly could have moved through his hands.

Oh, by the way, with the "Flowers 2020" thread, and "the Tree Thread" and "The Shohin Thread" for all 3 of these threads the rule is every post must contain a photo. The photo does not have to be related to the content of the post, but has to be a photo to fit the thread theme. So Harunobu, you owe this thread a photo or two of any flowering tree, preferably a satsuki, because that is the what we know you are good at. Just a good natured poke at you.

Wait, I need to post a picture? I was looking at a Kobai and I thought I saw the perfect flower on it. But it turned out the HD photo showed some blemishes on the petals. So I didn't post. Maybe, now I have no way around not posting it. Strangely, Kobai photos look worse than the actual flowers. Usually, flowers look better when you take a HD quality picture with your phone.

I didn't specify that you HAD to post a picture when I started the thread. It's fine to just comment, if you want. Pretty flower though.

@Mike Westervelt - love the flower on your Stewartia.
@atlarsenal - it would be nice if the internet could send fragrance too, there is nothing like the perfume of gardenias

This is my azalea 'Waka Ebisu' or some write 'Wakaebisu' - the flowers seem huge this year. I should not have hit it with my "Blueberry Special", it reacted like it was on steroids. Just joking, but it did blow the flowers up a bit. I had almost lost this one back in 2016-2017, really damaged the root system with bad potting media choices. Finally it is responding like it is healthy again. I think later this summer I'll throw some wire on it, maybe even "throw a style" on it.

'Wakaebisu' is supposed to be hose in hose type double flowers. This year I have no hose in hose flowers, they are all singles. Perhaps the extra energy that would have gone into the doubles, is what inflated the size of the singles. In other words, not quite enough energy to make doubles, just bigger singles.

'Kozan' bush, northface of garden, never been pruned:

Looks like it is thriwing now, good job. It doesn't look like Wakaebisu to me. Are you sure it had hose in hose before? Hose in hose turns the sepels into petals. Check the backside of the flower at the base. Wakaebisu is a very mild hose in hose. Some H-i-H have really a second flower rotated 90 degrees, so the petals appear inbetween those of the actual flower. Wakaebise seen from the front blocks the hose in hose petals. But Wakaebisu has a dark blotch. Many pinks have a yellowish-green blotch (like a white flower). Can't quite tell which of the two yours has. It is either acting really strange, or not Wakaebisu.
