First satsuki, advice wanted

I re-used the original soil since its still good. Seramis, fine pine bark, vermiculite, for the most part. I found 6 grubs, each the size of half a fingernail, but who knows if it was the kind to eat dead plant material or living roots.
The second branch is now the new leader since it had the best movement. The planting angle was changed and the tape removed. Regular pine bark top dressing against liverwort and other weeds, + moisture retention

About 40 rooted layers were potted and placed in shade, for now

Some are as tall as the big one

I did not protect the big one adequately for the first couple days and a number of leaves are now dark brown from the tips
But I think it can recover
