So I’ve had this little guy a couple years now. I potted it a while back and pruned quite a bit at that time just to open it up. It was nursery stock and very full. So, today I did further pruning, styling, and wiring. Come spring time, I’m going to up-pot to let it grow some more. My main concern with this are the whorls, they get out of hand pretty easily.

It sounds like you're on the right track with your plant. Pruning and wiring are great steps for shaping and managing growth, especially for nursery stock that can become overgrown. Up-potting in spring will give it more room to develop. To handle the whorls, regular pruning to thin them out will be key. This will help maintain the plant's shape and encourage healthy growth patterns. Keep an eye on the plant's response to each intervention, and adjust your care routine accordingly. Happy gardening!
