Do I get This right ?
when subscribing to the content you post a message in the subscription thread with a picture from the chosen matterial the "before" picture and a receipt from the store? and before the closing date a picture wit end result ?

Too bad we can't use trees we already have sitting around. I may be getting one of those 30 year old procumbens from the back of Adairs van though. We'll see if it comes or not. We got some sketchy plan to get it here. It all relies on Vance. I would imagine he would be using one for his entry too.
I might just go the 90 miles to the nearest nursery and buy one though.
Just for a little insurance and a choice on what can be turned into a bonsai in a day.
I really want to enter this contest. But time will tell.

I got a hibiscus off the clearance rack at Lowes for $4.50 a couple weeks ago, that I wanted to take a shot at doing something with. But I bought it before the contest started. Looking forward to see what everyone else does, though.

I don't have a problem with you using that....you are all of what...half a year in?

Needs fine wiring on the little branches still and the downward growing foliage removed. Also some work on deadwood. It gets all that in a while. I need to do some annealing.

I wouldn't have a problem with her using it either.
It would be people like me with trees sitting around waiting to be worked on that we have been studying for a while to see what we're going to do that wouldn't be fair.
I love doing the whole buy a tree and style it right away thing.

Somehow that always seems to backfire though doesn't it....
We think we get away with it but by the end of the week the "honey-do" list is twice as long!

When you have upwards of 200 trees it's hard for her to tell. Plus when you're bringing home collected trees all of the time it's hard to tell if you bought it or not.

exactly! Currently trying to get my collection down to a number I have the patience to count lol then these contests come up!

lol well my wife always says when you do ill go out and buy myself something too
and in this case i went to buy a azalea and she Just love flowers so bought her one too to put in te garden !

When my nephew was little his concepts were simple. If he had
enough of something [candy bars/lollipops/snack cakes/etc.]
that he had one in each hand and one in his pocket he would
count it off as "One; Two; Whole bunch".
When it comes to counting plants that is close enough for me;
anything more than I can tote, "one, two, whole bunch."

We're gonna go right into the contest, receipts can be burned.

Went to the local Wal mart this morning. 40 miles away.
The only junipers were old gold and sea green. No go for this guy and a contest. Procumbens or bust.
Hoping though. Hoping.
