Elaeagnus Umbellata 1 and 2

The spot that I'm eyeing for potential collection is frequented by deer who basically trunk chop them each winter. That way trunks are short and stubby. It was surprising that the rabbits managed to destroy them for you, it seems like nothing can kill them. Did you trunk chop this one or was it short like that?
I'm asking bc I'm wondering if I can get away with severe trunk chop in the fall if I do collect something
I love deer areas... they keep CERTAIN trees/plants nice and bushy..

When i collect in fall.. i send them to bed “full”.. i prune back.. but not as far as would be ideal.. then a smaller, finishing prune in late spring, once the buds begin to move..
