For those of you using Dry Stall I would assume you have to sift it.
How much is wasted or two small to use?

I currently use an oil absorbent. Out of a 40 pound bag I probably only get to use about 1/2 of the bag for soil. The rest is just too small. But the cost of that bag is only $5.99. Lol but I also have an over abundant amount of sand like left overs from it and a lot of sifting time.

Thanks everyone!!
Kevin

Approx. 1/3 of the bag perhaps a little more is wasted as it is just too small to use. Also consider washing the fines/dust off of the usable material. Yes - you can wash it off when you put it into a grow box or pot - but this leaves a thick residue in the bottom of the pot or grow box. It is just too bad that Dry Stall does not make a slightly bigger or coarser grade. I would mix the Dry Stall with lava, haydite or another product and not necesssarily go 100% Dry Stall. Good luck...Tom

Thanks! Exactly the info I was looking for.

I keep the majority of the bag when I process dry stall, probably 90%. I sift out the fines then wash it twice to remove most of the dust.
