Do You YouTube? Favorite bonsai person to follow

I would say @leatherback's channel is my most consistent watch.

The channel that makes my day when they finally drop a video is definitely Bonsai Relief.

Keep in mind I am heavily biased towards Japanese Maple content but three other channels I watch that haven't been mentioned are:
  • Bonsai Bossa - Short videos in Japanese working on trees(I skip any non maple ones)
  • Deshojo - A Spanish channel focused on Japanese Maple, has particularly good videos working on improving the Nebari
  • Hiryu-en Bonsai ENG - This is Andrea Meriggioli's channel and if you don't know him, he has written the best book on Maple Bonsai available in the Western world.

all three new to me!

Here's my list (most have already been said):
Blue sky bonsai--
Growing Bonsai--Jelle
Bonsai Retreat--Xavier
Mirai---Ryan Neil
Bonsaify---Eric Shrader
Green Wood Bonsai--Corin
Bonsai Zone--Nigel
Bonsai Q---subtitles but great material
Eisei-en---Bjorn
Terry Erasmus
small trees---a member here and has some good videos on trident maple
bonsai shinshi---japanese channel with some great stuff

There's probably more but I think I got the most of them.
Same here plus Gro Bonsai 👍

My favorite is https://youtube.com/@bonsai-shinshi?si=u8v--M8bVpfj-LGq

Good camera person, subtitles, progression style content in the sense that the videos often show what was done several years ago and how it turned out.

Interesting content sometimes, but a little too much repetitive black pine shohin work for my taste 😅

There are some extra Japanese channels I watch but I don't have the links in my subscribe list at the moment.

Blue Sky Bonsai has gotten so infrequent I am afraid I miss new videos even when he does post one and Bonsai Releaf is the same, about 1 per year. Terry Erasmus used to do a lot of good stuff but then switched to doing too many shorts and lost me. Nigel has gotten to be the same thing with video after video: “Pruning my ________” and many are just a stick in a pot, but at least that content is good for newbies. Hopefully Bjorn will be able to get back into doing actual bonsai videos once his house is built. He must have deep pockets to be able to survive the move to Japan and put all his resources into building the Kyoto house. Is Mirai still active?.

Terry Erasmus is fantastic. Although, he hasn't been posting videos for a while now.

BonsaiQ is my go to and Bonsai Shinshi is good for technical stuff. Haruyoshi is good but as was already mentioned he’s pretty focused on shohin JBP (but not exclusively and he’s also been showing some of his pottery work lately).

I will say that though it’s not specific “how to” type stuff I really like Bjorn’s Eisei En Kyoto content. Watching his new garden and home develop and his insight into Japanese culture as an expat is very interesting to me.

Andrew Robson’s channel has had some good content but also some more tedious, long winded discussions

I wish Micheal Hagadorn would make video content. I appreciate his take and enjoy his blog a great deal and it’s always worth listening when he’s on Bonsai Wire.

Bonsai Releaf is awesome, I really like the way he makes his videos. You can tell he puts a lot of work an effort.

I started appreciating Growing With Bonsai , a more introspective approach.

I also like Herons Bonsai and Back Garden Bonsai and of course Growing Bonsai With Jelle

As Japanese channels I enjoy Bonsai Q, Bonsai Ch and Gak Bonsai.

And for the spanish channels I regularly watch Kaeru-en, David Benavente and Canal de Bonsai to mention a few.

Alexis Fait du Bonsai in French is also good.

Bonsai Worx if you like JBP and Junipers. It's Southern Hemisphere so gives you a six month "heads up".

Others I follow - Jelle, Terry Erasmus (but I think he's unwell), Peter Chan - especially his nursey tours, Make more bonsai (not that frequent, but great videos), Bonsaiify and Bonsai Releaf (which is jaw droppingly beautiful).

I have consumed enough bonsai content to write a book. But I'd just be regurgitating other people's knowledge. It's time to learn through action. I know how to kill 'em. This year I start healin'. I'll probably kill a few more, but I'm never going to move forward if I let my fear hold me back. Maybe someday we can do a collaborative video for the Celtis contest on the BonsaiNut YouTube channel. Lol

Xavier's Bonsai Retreat
Dan Barton's life with Bonsai
Blue Sky Bonsai
And of course Growing Bonsai.
I agree with pretty much everyone's recommendations below. I would add two.

Wabi channel is in Japanese. Not much on technique, but he gives you an authentic sense of the Japanese tradition and aesthetic. Very peaceful to watch.

If you live in the northwoods like I do, a newer channel is Dushan Bonsai Garden. He uses field collected native trees like Eastern White Pine, spruce, and white cedar. Amazing results from start to finish.
