They help each other out and give tips on how to scrounge free wood and the equipment and techniques involved. There is no competition, only helpfulness.
I have been hesitant to cross pollinate between the forums, although I think there could be mutually beneficial relationships due to the link to the forests, only because the more time I spend there, the more catty it seems here, and I wouldn’t want to spoil the dynamic over there.
But more than anything, I think our members could learn a lot from the comradery that they have going. And, check out the sweet wood I scored: this one is red oak which takes three years after CSS (cut split stack) to season properly.

I don't agree. In most cases I think it is from new members who don't have a lot of posts and who haven't gotten used to the site, and don't know the other members. Arguments and / or hostile discussions might sound abrasive to many of the long-term members of the site, but it is easy to shrug off when you say "oh that is just Al having a bad day" or "here goes another soil thread". Been there, done that
But for a new member, they have a tendency to take everything much more personally than if they had been here for a longer time.That is why some of the new members who have been lurkers don't seem to have the same problems. They have been on the site for a while, see the ebb and flow of conversations, and know more or less what the site is about. They also know not to take criticism so personally, or that arguments just happen... and you can always choose not to participate, put someone on ignore, or just move on to another thread.

Just so everyone knows....Al never has a bad day. I am always 100% correct or I wouldn't say a damn thing.....period. That's the difference. I always "show my work with pictures" Thats the big difference and what pisses most people off.

As far as I am concerned, if a user wants the account to be deleted and the admin is ok with it then fine. However, whatever posts generated by the account should remain. One doesn't get to un-say what has been said in public, particularly when others have taken the time to answer to the threads.

Man, you haven't been paying attention! I'm super racist and antisemitic (if you're dyslexic!). I don't like the yews and I don't like those japanese maples with their red blushes all over that pale yellow foliage in fall.
I prefer my conifers to be from my own country, and anyone who doesn't like that should get the hell back to their own yard!

If you look hard enough you'll find the N-word on this site. haha I found it by random chance, it was used in an ..... innocent?...way. But yeah this place is great it's the only form of social media I use at this point
