Corny jigs

I love you guys, my energy is with you.

👍

"Just balances, just weights" : the problem is that some people can get pissed on a birthday party, and be sober the rest of the week, or month. I't's the same with weed. It's much easier when you have a family (a companion, children).

But a nice wine with a nice meal with friends, a nice beer at the beach, a smoke with friends, that's not the end of the world...

A nice hike in the wild with your companion and kids is extra bonus.

PS : I like the term "companion" : in French, it's "compagnon" (male) or "compagne" (female).

When you're young, you have "copains" and "copines".
A boy-friend is "un petit copain", a girl-friend is "une petite copine" : this is getting more serious, it's on the verge (ha ha !) of sex relationship.

But all these terms come from the latin "cum panum" : someone you share the bread with.

That's why I like the term "companion".

🙏

Absolutely! (Not the end of the world)

For some people, that can work ..

I am, personally, an "all or nothing" kind of consumer.

🤓

Interestingly AFTER I destroyed my body with ALCOHOL (and powdery clears, whites and browns)... My Hepatology (not TECHNICALLY a word.. but a GI specialist with ADVANCED focus on Liver/Kidneys) Doc "off the record" told me to use cannabis or CBD consistently throughout the day, to take the place of like 4 other synthetic meds...

He's a good doctor.

Yes, companionship is important. In English... The secondary meaning of "Partner" fits even better... The one used in "Life Partner"

Phoned my Mum.

Can't cook her lunch this Sunday for about a week or so, my car is broken down. Oh. Holidays ! 😄It will be fixed next week.

Phoned my sister, and my niece to tell them about "Mamie", "Granny", or "Grandma", "Babcia", my grandmothers could hardly speak French though they settled here in 1926.

Why did they want to make a "hefty" woman look like a Christmas tree ? Some of the fashion at that time was really under the water.

Not only Mama Cass had a great voice, but, man, she was sexy, really... I think I can see the person beyond the woman. Or I can feel the woman beyond the 2-D B&W, I almost feel the woman inside ! Oooh, back to my teens... 😄 😄 😄

And from old country to modern blues featuring THE SEXIEST WOMAN TO EVER BELT A TUNE.
You'll have to PM me to be part of the conversation in my mind whenever I hear her songs and see her music videos. 🤤🤤🤤🤤

The lyrics go something like :

Why do the people who love each other
are (look) (always) a bit the same (...)
they're happy people (..) (ce sont des gens heureux), etc.

Difficult to translate (except if you're a robot), impossible to carry all the meanings from one language to another : traduttore, tradittore...

The French lyrics (with a few misspellings that might make the translation a bit weird) : https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=un+homme+heureux+paroles

The title of the song is "Je veux être un homme heureux" : The plea of a man who just yearns to be happy with the one he loves...

SINGER is Hebrew, I believe.

Singing Yiddish
THAT would explain why it sounds like it's a blend of a middle eastern language and Germanic.
Because it is!

I tend to get caught up in the thinking that Yiddish is just a sort of pigeon Hebrew, but it really is far enough removed to be a separate language. Maybe mutually intelligible, but different.

Total accident, Tom Waits is one, or the best, poets I like.

"Made-up" cynicism (because I think he has a deep sympathy for all people), breaking bigot barriers, but so close to what simple people can experience and feel. With my students, I would play them, and the discuss about what could happen to those kids that left my room when class was dismissed :

... And though the English I learnt was British-like, I'd wave them goodbye saying "Take care!".

Went to the local Fine Arts museum again (1796 or so, though it was moved sevaral times, and a lot ot art works were destroyed during WWII...) -one floor each time, after one hour, or 75 minutes, you can't concentrate on what you see.

PS: went there in late morning, then we had a meal, champagne, and a couple of glasses of wine :

Art, love and "cuisine", why would you ask for more ?...
