My little sister dug up what I think is an apple tree from one of her job sites about 2-3 weeks ago. She had the whole tree wrapped up in a tarp in the back of her truck for almost 2 days before she dropped it off at my place. I've told her to stop bringing me plants but she has never listened to me.
Sent her this pic a couple days ago. She called me a miracle worker and tree whisperer.
29 days after collection and very severe chops on the roots. There are lots of shoots. If they survive the next 4 weeks, they will be on their way to becoming great bonsai.
5 months later.
The trees developed buds quickly but regressed in the brutal heat in September. They are now growing well in the cool fall season. They will be potted into mica training pots in the spring. These are definitely my keepers. My friend told me that they were from the seedlings he planted 25 years ago.
