A virt. I removed the longer apex in the image, which i may do come spring. I’m years away from this level of ramification. I may also be representing finer branching than i can actually achieve with the species, but well see.

Wired out some of the branches and took a 360. You’ll see the flaws in the video. Tree needs to tilt forward at repot as its leaning away at the moment. Major chops need some serious healing. I may also shorten the crown of the tallest tree to round out the shape. Something I’m also considering is a slight reposition of the back left tree.

May not be the best pot for this tree, but I thought the rustic cream would look nice. Probably undersized a bit. Tree on the far right is slow to pop for some reason.

I definitely love the color. And the Depth works as well. I just wish that it was a bit wider. Especially once the canopy fully fills out.

My ash has got something! I assumed some type of leaf spot, but I’ve also got these tiny black dots that appear to be some type of bug. Anyone?

Tree is doing ok. But not great. I pruned out most of the leaves that seemed infected, sprayed and it’s reflushing. Lots of decent growth but the issue seems to be showing up here and there. Still don’t know what it is though.

What the hell happened to this tree?
My son and his friend at about 4 years old, were playing on the front porch, throwing there action figures at our Chile ristras. We didn’t realize they were doing this till the ristra were decimated. They felt bad we were disappointed. Well it turned out the oils from the chiles got all over...

Yeah, I know it. Total bummer for sure. It was recovering from whatever fungus had hit it, but then, once all of the branches were cleared, from what I think was a packrat, it was never the same. Dieback city, not just in the branches but down the trunks as well.

Bummer, but I think you’ve disproved the doubters, this species can absolutely make a good bonsai. Time to dig some more, and get a cat.

Fraxinus older than 4-5 years here...
ARE ALL GONE!!!
DECIMATED... everywhere.
WI DNR (and private activists) had tried for like 7 years, very aggressively to control the beetle. It was a losing game... In the end, we just had to sit back and remark, "FINE!... just TAKE all our ash trees."
The green and white fraxinus that grow locally are even MORE of a pain, in my opinion, for bonsai-goals. I tried for 2-3 years and could not get the responses or behavior I was looking for. I still DO have the tree through.
Got me thinking about "saving" some saplings and growing them, miniaturized, but naturally in containers.
Simply for preservation's sake, for the emerald borers do NOT go after "small' trees.
(It was ROUGH "falling in love" with this tree AT THE SAME time as finding out it has died.)

Sorry, Danny. Losing trees sucks. I feel like a little part of me dies with them. That was really starting to take shape.
