CM Bonsai. Developing a Seedling Cutting

another addition to the development plan

Ok,this one caught my attention. One of several this crop that had many shoots already!!
This particular one has 11 shoots on a 14 week old seedling cutting!!!
So that meens when it has a growth phase eventually will be more than 20 shoots growing. Will be phoenominal.
So will follow this seedling cutting also....#2

@cmeg1 sorry if I missed it, but when exactly do you cut the seedling? Is there a physiological indicator (as opposed to just X number of weeks)?

Your posts have inspired me to start some native pine seedlings next year. I don’t think they’ll be quite as dialed as yours but I am going to try the root pouches for sure!

Not hard to dial in...get the smallest tent you can find and a 10 lb tank of co2!!
Then its just perlite and hydro fertilizer & bio stimulants at corect EC(strength).
And a bit of ph testing.
Oh and a $150 led l
I got this fairly simplified......probably do all including depost for tank@$500
Then a cheap floor ac and a dehumidifier...........
Ok ok ok $700.

seriously give me a hollar before you buy......I have this co2 tent dialed.....$23 tank of co2 can last 7 weeks!!!✌️

I will get back to you I off work wed, thurs

@Colorado
Also post# 535....of the thread beliw........100% success every time....out of 180 cuttings!!!

Getting ready to bulk up for sure!

Another update.Shoots are starting to get defined...ALL 11 OF THEM!!
This will be one stout little pine in a few months.Eleven shoots is kind of rediculous, but fun nontheless.
Nice green needles coming in.Had an overdose of co2 early in its life( hense the yellow lower needle tips). All good now though.I see no reason to run more than 1000 ppm of co2 in the tents anymore.

This pine will have one fat base with ten branches shooting from the roots practically.

Kelp and blue spectrum lighting at it’s finest....4000k boards

Pine #1 is thickening up!!

Autumn buds are setting and the trunk swelled.Maybe more on the way too.
About 5 mnths this seedling cutting and trunk is already 5/8” approaching 3/4”
Benefit of low multi-branch.....The 2nd cutting will be incredible when it get to this stage....has 3x more shoots at the base!!

Photo shoot pine 2

The killer sacrifice branches.I actually got the idea from this video years ago.....glad someone shared on here a few days ago.The seedling cutting above will probably have an 2inch trunk when its a year old....has 10 base branches to grow out.
The snippits are from the video .

So I re-counted all the branches today!
There are actually 12 branches at the base!!!
Total record for me.More branches at the roots than the first pine photo above.
12 shoots on first 3/4” of trunk😆
I so liketo come home and water the trees.27AC9301-6CAF-4A7E-A25C-E30AAE05A5F9.jpeg083A2155-5A7F-47F8-B92B-817A107093AD.jpeg02EDACE2-1348-4372-AE16-0DE17812AD6B.jpeg58DA1030-29F3-4FE3-B4C0-8A4E39025D7B.jpeg

Pine #1 update!!!
Nearing 7 mnths old now!!!!!
This is looking very nice.Great dark green color is a sign of iron and magnesium fascilitating photosynthesis. The EC is 1.0.......very mild npk.
The added bio-stimulants are really taking effect along with the 5:2 ratio fulvic/kelp foliar once a week.I also read that cane molasses increases iron availability.
I have increased the calmag for all my grow formulas and decreased the general npk/salt content.

I put Jbp #1 to sleep for a couple mnths or so!!

The cold refridgerator seems good.Humidity is actually very high @ 75% average.
Temperature is average about 34f or so...we will see...I will actually freeze this pine....temp swings up and down about 8 degrees every 1.3 hrs.
Hits below 30f every 1.3 hrs.
Cold will be best so no fungal issues......probably top shelves will be warmer too.

THIS JBP SEEDLING CUTTING IS ONLY 6.5 mnths old!!!!!!!!!!!

Quite impressed myself with this as it has a whopping 1 inch trunk already!!!!!
Looks extremely hardy and I expect it to fare very well in the ‘indoor cold storage’I will call it.

Will be exciting to take that trunk out of the little 1pt rootpouch.Boggles me that such a vigorous plant can be grown in a 1pt pouch!!!
If I remember correctly this is definately a testament to hydroponics......I believe I seen a 10 foot pepper plant or something in a rather small rockwool cube once.
After 6 weeks I may be tempted to get this growing again.....keep pretty much frozen for 1000 hours of dormancy.Brent sais’ this will suffice.
Exciting stuff.

Wow. Thats crazy, you have definitely convinced me about the hydroponics now.

It looks like it hasn't even started dormancy, is it not a shock to the plant to go from not dormant to 34F and dark?

Thanks!
Was completely dormant...been outside since August 20th and has took several frosts recently.Has almost 2 inch terminal buds too.
