It is a BIG tree. I haven't measured it yet but probably 8-10" trunk at the base.

Changed my mind and cut off half of a flat top.

Carved a top to simulate a slashing break that sometime occurs when a big tree falls over a smaller tree and breaks the top of the smaller tree.

Uncle, why are you wiring so far out into the branch? How high are you envisioning the tree will be when it gets a proper bonsai pot? I have one that I chopped down to about this high and thinking of cutting back hard on the branches to start the fork from. Just wondering what your plan is for this one.

For this one the final height will be where the wire now end or 2” shorter. All new side branches will be wired downward. No new apex is allowed. New buds will be either bent down or cut.

It will be cool when the base flare swells up and the trunk hollowed out.
