I recently acquired this tree from a local shop and am not 100% sure what it is. My first thoughts were podocarpus after seeing the foliage, but the bark threw me off. Maybe it is just really old so that is why the bark looks so different than other podo bonsai I’ve seen?

If anyone can identify this, I’d appreciate it!

I believe it was field grown in the Orlando, Fl area.

Almost certainly Callistemon sp. IMHO
Even for Id threads a location can sometimes give clues to what is possible and what's more unlikely.
Callistemon are all(?) Australian natives but I understand they do very well in Florida to the extent that some have become environmental weeds down there.

I have several podocarpuses but none of them barks up like that... they normally have smoot bark that becomes "flaky"

If that's a bottlebrush, it's got some nice age on the trunk. Typically these are spindly mallsai here in the U.S.
