I'm not sure I'm in the right place but here goes. At the club "swap meet" on Sunday I purchased a "seed-grown" cherry. That's all I know about it. When I went in to repot it I realized it was already a "Root-over-root" (which I'm pretty sure is not a style). The root part of it was not attached to the cherry seedling and was just something else that didn't make it (?)...not sure.

Anyway, I've never developed a ROR although I own several that others have developed. I don't really know what I'm doing but so far it's been fun getting it going. And then I saw there's a CONTEST!!! No point in NOT joining in.

I actually had to look up prunus on Wikipedia. Didn't realize it was rosaceae. Cool!

Thanks for the comment. Yes, I had to look it up too. Rosaceae is a big, big family. The cherry is doing well, but needs wire soon.

Here's an update on my cherry ROR with photo. It was wired and grew well this spring/summer 2023. I am pretty sure the rock it's planted over is not really big enough unless I keep the tree a shohin, so I'm not sure what I'll do about that. Maybe I can put it onto a bigger rock at the next repotting, if it's not too melded into the rock. That will give me time to find a bigger rock - the one I used was just lying around the shed. Think I need a beer can for scale. Stay tuned....
