Bougainvillea hybrid- help me keep this bougainvillea alive

Do I need to trim off the spent flower stems?

I have two Bougainvillea… I almost killed my first one by watering too much. They prefer drier end of soil. I only water mine 1-2/week.

I water this one once every 10-12 days.

I’m in hot south Florida, if I wasn’t I’d likely push it longer. Nevertheless, even in winter here I’m still every week, 7 days… assuming we’ll draining soil.

I have never used Bonsai Jack. I use this...for larger pots.

For my large bougainvillea, I use American Bonsai UltraMix Standard, pretty nice size granules for large bonsai, and I add pine bark for a $1.00 more for my tropical.

I'm thinking about buying this mix + pine bark for my Nerifolias. Both are right around 10" with well developed root structure, so I'm thinking 20#. Do you have a general idea what Ultramix is composed of?
