Bonsai trees on Cobra Kai

$30K for those bonsai, what a steal!!

Reminds me of the first scene in the most recent season of Stranger Things when the dude snips off a perfectly good growing tip on a juniper and all the bonsai people cringed.

Saw that episode the other day.
Horrible, just horrible.
Not the show necessarily, but certainly the bonsai which have no right to that moniker.

I balked at them at first, but they did get smashed, and I'm sure no one wanted to lend them a nice one for that purpose.

With creative filming both ends could have been achieved. I just feel it was an embarrassment to call them rare bonsai.
I am guilty of being hypercritical of a lot of things on tv passed off ignorantly. All sorts of things are presented askew.

My wife died laughing when watching that ST episode. At that exact moment I was working on a Juniper of mine in the living room. 😂

Wow!
I'm suddenly less self conscious about my "bonsai" trees. My collection must be worth millions at least. 😏

No creativity needed even. It's literally one prop for one shot, and another prop for the other shot. Do it in every other scene, no reason they couldn't do it in this one.
After learning a bit about film making in college I have the same problem. Some otherwise good shows become hard to watch when you know how easy it is to do it better.

I have a chamaecyparis obtusa ‘chirimen’ that looks exactly like the one in the middle lol. I put it in the ground 4 years ago and only take cutting of it. It is much larger now.

THAT has got to be the funniest bonsai moment ever captured in a film...$30,000 for a $7 tree. I stopped watching Cobra Kai two seasons ago. It had taken the "Everybody was Kung Fu fighting" thing too far. What had been a decent series--particularly with William Zabka and Ralph Macchio's performances and others, kind of got bogged down in teenage dumbassery.

At least the original Karate Kid movie had Roy Nagatoshi's bonsai in it, not "van man" bonsai from K-mart's parking lot.

True this! Nao was like ‘some socal bonsai club member could have had their tree on tv! (Cue the stunt double trees). 😂😂😂😂

I must be bored 'cause I'm still watching it. But what you are saying is true. Most tv and movies is becoming teenage dumbassery. And teenage vampires, witches, werewolves etc.
I guess they have a market but I don't remember watching that much tv when I was a dumbass teen.
