Big trees that make you say, "It's like a giant bonsai"

My wife and I spent the last few days in and around Charleston, SC. There are a number of really impressive live oaks here. This one is said to be 1000 years old and is at Magnolia Plantation. You can see the people near it to get an idea of its size.

OK, maybe this doesn't 'look like a bonsai'

at least not in any scale I could view or photograph it

But! This is one of only 2 redwood to fall and continue growing like this in the UK.

it has then self rafted, hopefully it can be made out from the pics20240519_135731.jpg20240519_135749.jpg20240519_140640.jpg20240519_140702.jpg20240519_140738.jpg20240519_140027.jpg

This is the closest to the full raft I could get in one pic!

Definitely have to piece it together from the pics, but once you start getting the image in your head it's rather impressive. Rafts are very rare in nature as it is, so don't feel bad about it not being in a place conducive to photography.

@ShadyStump this thing is HUGE

The first pic of 3 trees is the end, and 2 of those trees are impressive size (thicker than the original trunk) and appear like free standing trees, but are actually branches that have rooted.
