Curious as about 25 yrs ago bonsai tree farm used have amazing seedlings of so many trees and since then I've yet to find a great place to buy tree seedlings hoping to find either reputable tree seeds for sale or a other place like bonsai farm that sells seedlings or rooted cuttings. Been so out of loop with bonsai due to health issues but now they are a bit better retracing to get into it. Dawn redwood , zelkova serrata, japaneese maple to list few seeds/seedlings but not limited to that I am hoping to find sources for . Thanks

Have used many places for seedlings. But the best two consistently imho for all but azalea and tropical seedlings are

Evergreen Gardenworks

Kaede-en

btw: Please enter your USDA Plant Hardiness zone and approximate location so folks can better help you in the future. To do this, double click icon atop the page, select account details, then scroll down and enter this data. This will allow folks to provide better advice to you.

Thanks ive updated zone and much appreciated advice and recommendations. Oddly orignal zoning used list elkhart Indiana as zone 5 but new one says 6 however coldest winters have been -40 in my 44yrs of life but typically -15 or -20.f

Left Coast Bonsai is a pretty good place to aquire some seedlings. It is ran by John Eads.

If you are looking for a large quantity, a whole sale nursery that accepts 'smaller' orders could be a good bang for your buck. Although they would not have any initial work done to them as they are intended to go to nurseries or landscapers.

I like to buy my seeds from Sheffields Seeds. Reasonable prices (to be fair, I haven't shopped around for seeds for comparison) and they list a lot of the seeds information on the package. I have confidence that the product I buy from them will be as stated.

Thanks I definitely will look into resources everyone's posting. I'm not worried about any seedlings being pre trained bonsai as I'd prefer to do all the work myself . Just looking for seed source thats reliable and if seedlings they are decently affordable . For seeds mainly looking for 25 to 125 counts ((small enough to grow out myself and what I don't use might plant on my property for wildlife and large enough count to ensure even with worst case germination to get a few decent seedlings/saplings (unless zero germination of course) and for sapling trees that are cheap enough to by 1 to 5 and grow out and train myself. (Not a pity story) but being medically retired I just need stay within defined budget with hobbies and such (not that we all don't have that just mines a bit skewed smaller then I'd like haha) hope isn't to bad to say just being honest (sometimes I over share or am honest to a fault- if so I apologize)

Hello and welcome back! Sheffield seeds is a great place to fing hard to find seeds.
Thank you seems to be consensus that they are pretty sweet to order from . They've got nice selection too. A few things still trying to find thrybdont have (namely zelkova serrata) unless I missed seeing it , will recheck , bad habit when tired to miss things when reading.

Tree seed man on Etsy has just about any seed you can think of. I've ordered multiple times. My last order of 100 pine seeds had 200 seeds in it. Got zelkova too

That's great just messaged them since confused lil because they have zelkova serrata seeds listed but 2 different prices but not terribly different just like few cents but curious the difference if same species . Guessing the source or maybe the date harvested . Thank you for sharing this excited .

I want to give another shout out for Dylan at Cedar Rose nursery.

He also sells starter material on eBay for ridiculously low prices.

Call or email him. He has tons of stuff not listed from seedlings to well developed pre-bonsai trees.

He is very knowledgeable and one of the nicest people.

Have fun,
