Yeah, it is no secret that they will back-bud at the drop of a hat, BC are beasts when it comes to growth. Some people defoliate this time of year to get a new crop of fresh leaves since they start looking ratty from the summer sun and heat. I have never really done that, but in the process of reworking one like this you have to remove some and along with shortening the branches causes a lot of new growth.

Most of the wire is 2 and 2.5 mm. There may be a couple of larger pieces on some larger branches.

I haven't thought of a rectangular pot, in fact I have one that it will probably fit in. I hope to get an oval made for it when I can come up with the cash.

Yes on the defoliating ..I would not have thought of it till I started this .. thanks for the wire size ..my younger branches feel very flexible

If you pick a front the rectangle would be excellent .. and possibly think about removing a couple lower branches ..I think it may give you and older taller look ?

Do the paper in front of the branches you may want to remove to see what it may look like cut before you cut it

I think that it would look better without the lower branches too, but I am scared to remove them as they are the only thing growing on that side and I fear that side of the trunk might die, so I have decided to keep them, for now.

Did you see the 3600.00 BC on E Bay ?

Is it this one?

The photo has been photoshopped extensively, the foliage is not as lush as it appears. I can't believe that Brussels would so that, buyer beware.

Yes I would be suspicious with one pic for 3600..?

The Weigerts pre is pricy .but plenty of pics

I understand the branch nervousness
You'll probably get a new one started after your trim

My BC overgrown as well. I was thinking about letting the foliage die off in winter and then making some branch choices. Is this a good strategy?

Yes IMO better to have too many than not enough choices, plus they make the tree stronger .

That would have worked 2 years ago ..before my son graduated from UWF

Have you ever made the drive to Bonsai by Dori store in Cottondale Fl off I10
