An idea for a stand: back to the realism?

I've heard shohin stands sometimes reflect a mountain: the old conifer on top, and the lower down you go, the more seasons in the mountain you find.
The traditional stand - again, from what I've heard - is an abstract representation of a mountain.

I'm not a rock builder but I try to be creative. So I'm donating this idea to whoever wants to build it.
My first question is; why on earth do we need an abstract representation of a rocky peak if we're displaying literal rocks in the next bench over?
Why not build a cylindrical stone, resembling a mountain, with stages on four or five sides; the conifer on top, the next season one step down and the next season one step down and 90 degrees on the other side of the rock, continue.
Like a helix, winding down the mountain, showing all seasons as the rock rotates on a disk? Cool for the viewer, since everything is obscured except for the one plant facing the viewer, and it takes some time to do the actual rotation, so it demands of people to hang around for a while.

The actual mountain scape, instead of.. a rack.
I think that would be pretty awesome.
Added benefit is dramatic display; a cascade cascading down a rock evokes more emotion to me than a cascade standing on a barstool with funky feet.

I deliberately make fun of stands to spark a discussion. Please fire away and if you have any examples, because I assume someone must have done this already, they are most welcome!

An actual mountain would be more at home in model railroading. Bonsai is not really replicating nature verbatim. It’s about the viewers imagination making things for itself within a tree. Lifelike props tend to be too on the nose and forces the viewer somewhere
