American Bonsai Potters

Doesn't sound American to me. I can't even pronounce the name
Don't be lame. I don't know his citizenship status and I don't care. He has been in the U.S. since 1972. That's longer than many of the younger members here. Lives in San Jose, CA. Badass American ceramicist.

I know his story. You don't know my last name which doesn't sound American either. Just a little light hearted humor.

I will mention a new potter to bonsai, but a life-log ceramics professor from Indiana - Michael Thiedeman. I first saw his pots at the MABA show in Indianapolis a year or two back. Very high quality.
I have two of his pots, and I really like them. Delightful personality -- at least on email.

And throwing out a name without a picture of said work leaves me hanging........howzz that go? Pictures or it never happened......?;):D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Has any other potter listed here needed a photo posted of their work?! If you look at those pot competition PDFs posted by rockm you'll see some examples. There is another thread on the nut where smoke posted an example. There is also the almighty Google to help anyone who is curious. o_O

Kanehiro Hamajima is my vote for the most unsung American potter.
I vote yes on this as well. back in the day his pots were hand made. Many of them now are slip cast from molds he made.

I especially like this one and the glaze. This is a hand made shohin slab pot out of porcelain clay.

This pot is also one of his early ones. It too is slab made and has a wonderful glaze also.

There are tons of potters in California. More than I want to post. Dick Ryerson is one of the most prominent. Ken To I see was mentioned but doesn't really make pots unless you need five for the palm of your hand.

Since I'm a badass he made me this semi cascade pot with a set of balls on it.

@thams

Good idea.

I wonder if you can't have a section that says where they will be vending, which they can edit themselves.
Get some small shows out there too...
And give some non FB folks a place to go buy stuff.

A couple pics, with links to contacts, bios, websites.

Nice.
