Advice on Broom style creation

Happy Friday!

Hmm… The root ball is pretty decent, so likely no big issue horticulturally.

The trunk is solid yet the tree doesn’t have much to speak for itself bonsai wise.

Consequently, the tree will take longer to grow out and style if you delay chopping now.

Your tree your choice.

Cheers

Yeah, i know the tree was healthy when dug up but i did also do some good amount of rootwork after this picture.... i know the tree is not interesting but the lower 30 cm trunk as i grew it for that purpose.
I think it will be fine if i would chop it now but since this is going to need years in development anyway im leaning more to a season of growth to get it established in the pot and chop it next year.

keep in mind these can take a long time to develop good roots after digging from the ground. So initial years be gentle.

yeah i noticed they dont grow roots as fast as for example ulmus, its been dug up two times over the years so it does have a start for an decent nebari but it will need years of improving.
the safest is that i will let it grow unrestricted to help it establish in the pot its going to be a long term project anyway so why risk of doing to much in one go and add another year to the process !
