21. Realize that trying to create bonsai that looks like anything you have seen in a collection (like the Pacific Rim, Elandan Gardens...etc.), will not be achieved by a young tree in a bonsai pot any time during your lifetime. Those trees didn't get that way in a pot.
This one is important because too often we see new learners disappointed by the realization that their 1/2" tree isn't going to become what they hoped. Even great teachers have to bow down before the requirements of time. They just know how to skip a few years by the use of good horticultural skills.
