Lovely presentations all, and terrific pot combinations and variation of specie. Forgive my ignorance, but what is the tree with the fruit? Is this persimmon?

Crabapple ... and they turn golden yellow by fall.

Ah, thanks for the closeups, especially the crabapple, so sweet. That pyracantha is stunning, would love to see that color combo when the fruit turns. The pot on the bougie is really interesting, who is the maker if I might ask?

Thanks for showing us the display. There are way to little people making and showing shohin. I like your work a lot, very natural.

May I ask when you usually decandle this tree? I know timing varies by location, but am curious how you got these amazingly short needles!

Thanks,
Laura

Believe it or not.. they are not cut and i don't practice cutting my needles in my blackpine... It's all about timing when in comes to needle reduction...

There are so many approaches when it comes to decandling in order to get a very short needles. The technique itself focus on the removal of spring growth in summer... Timing is the key and it varies from where you lived then followed by a good after care that can have large effect in the outcome of the result of your practice... I'm from southern California in West Covina that it's hot and has long summer growth in black pines. Decandling my shohin black pines start on the 2nd week of July. We also used timing to control vigor, meaning.. decandle weak shoots early and more vigorous shoots later in order to balance the growth of your black pines... Hope this helps because there are so many techniques or approaches in decandling but used only that works in your specific area...

You repot junipers at this time of year? Where do you live?

Those are going to be really over the top once they fill in over the next couple years.
