Man...I really nnnnnneeeeeeed a Hershey Kiss trunk. šŸ„° not mine...a friend's tree. But quite the inspiration. Drool worthy...
Species: Prunus mahaleb

Throwing it out here... my winter set up is 32F for dormancy through winter. As of now...price point $500...as I'm hoping to walk the journey and find a project. As I love a project and the entire process.

Needs to be manageable for me...but I want it to arrive growling. šŸ˜‰

I know this would not be instant gratification, but if you plant any prunus on a flat surface in the ground (or a wide Root Pouch - the brand, not a generic pouch) into the ground you could achieve this in 3-4 years. My yoshino has been in a pouch on the ground for 2 seasons and the base swells just like that. And I didn't have a chance to place a tile underneath it, will be doing so this spring when I lift it to work the roots and move it to a larger Pouch. Almost every amazing prunus out there is extensively carved, that will give it the look you want.

šŸ¤”... I wasn't even pondering this species. I truly just want a trunk. I've ground grown a tree before. I just don't have the desire...I want instant gratification of working a trunk.

But appreciate your sharing that tidbit. It may...enable someone else to try to take such a project on. šŸ™‚

Everybody needs at least one good Hershey's kiss/Jaba the Hut kinda trunk in their collection:) Sorry wish I had one for sale for you
I was told...it's like finding a needle in a haystack. So...I intend to just build my kitty fund. Deeper pockets may get me something. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

But thanks. šŸ˜‰

There is a seller on eBay 3m.bonsai that has a ton of Hershey shaped olive trees. I havenā€™t ordered from him personally but he has a 100% positive feedback rating and a bunch of good looking stumps.
Am about to mention Olive probably your best bet for this kind of tree. Good call.

Iā€™d settle for a bag of Hershey kisses and some peanut butter šŸ¤¤
I can stand sweets since my having covid. I actually bought something the other day. That I used to absolutely enjoy. Nope...can't stomach sweets now. *NOT a bad thing... I still love steak. šŸ˜‰šŸ˜ I grew up on a cattle farm. Trust me...to lose my love of steak would have been much worse.

My Bog Monster came from him. Yeah the one I was looking at is way to big. I don't want to manhandle it. I'm watching there though too. šŸ˜‰

Wear your bug spray and keep the ticks away...

Absolutely crazy! Geesh...I've so many food aversion issues now. Last thing I need to give up is steak. I can't stand beef roast, pork chops, most all sausage unless it's hot Italian...no fish...barely chicken. If it's boneless not always guaranteed...and food allergies. Since my being so ill with covid.

Good to know heā€™s got the goods, Iā€™ve been eyeing a few but I needšŸ˜„ to thin the herd a bit before I get any more trees šŸ¤£

That tick thing is probably one of my worst fears.

Good luck. Hereā€™s mine, which my wife wouldnā€™t let me sell, so Iā€™m stuck with a tropical. Itā€™s an old ficus nerifolia that belonged to my wifeā€™s grandfatherā€™s nephew. He died about 10 years ago and his widow gave it to me, telling me it was his first bonsai tree that he had for 45 years In New Orleans. It was a triple trunk and close to 24ā€ tall when I got it. I chopped it down to a stump and regrew it into a more fitting banyan style, manageable in size too, around 12ā€ tall. Pot is my first Tokoname pot, 16ā€ wide and the base nearly fills it.

What a beast!

I've thinned mine this spring when it was safe to ship. So...I feel less guilty.

There is one...I'm chewing over. I'm certain I can lift it. It weighs about what my large dog food bag does. But I wish there was one I liked a tad smaller. Just because...we aren't getting any younger.

Yeah, not that many trees can pull that chunkiness unless they are resilient to carving and the wood can be preserved well. Olives, prunus, maybe BC and dawn redwood. I'm sure there may be others, but those are the few that come to mind right now that I have seen in this shape.

Right...and I wanted a tree that growls when you walk by it. Just one...everyone deserves one. Yes?
