Hi there.
I'm brand new here and have limited experience of bonsai but I have begun to buy some nursery plants and plant them in my garden with the idea that they will begin to thicken their trunks and get some nice growth on them so I can make them into bonsai in however many years time...

I was bought some £1.50 plants from a garden centre recently from a friend and can't identify them. It was a big box hardware store here in the UK and as usual they didn't really go in for the whole labelling of species etc.

I think they are Junipers, maybe blue junipers?! Maybe blue star!? Anyway, I have attached some images. if anyone can help that would be great.

Thanks so much.

Looks like Chamecyperous Pisifera. False Cypress.

It could, but very much emphasis on could, be a communis. But the branch and leaf structure is different.
Chamecuperous is often mistaken, and sometimes even mislabeled for juniper.
They are way cheaper though, and fun plants to learn with.

Thanks both.

I think I might be airing to the original post. Its definitely down that line at least. I'll have to do some more research.
At the moment it feels like squarrosa false cypress. But I'll see whghat else I can find. Thanks so much!
